1. About these terms
These Terms & Conditions apply to the AME Computers website and describe general conditions that may apply when AME Computers evaluates, repairs, upgrades, supports, recovers data from, or builds computer equipment. A written estimate, intake ticket, work order, invoice, or other service-specific agreement may contain additional terms for a particular job.
If a service-specific written term conflicts with a general website term, the service-specific written term controls for that job to the extent of the conflict.
2. Free standard diagnostics and estimates
AME Computers currently offers a free diagnostic for standard repair work and does not require an upfront diagnostic fee for those standard repairs. After diagnosis, we may explain recommended work, parts, alternatives, and expected charges before proceeding.
Custom computer builds, special-order parts, unusually extensive recovery work, outsourced services, or other non-standard projects may require a deposit, parts payment, authorization, or separate estimate before work begins. Any such requirement should be disclosed before that charge is authorized.
3. Customer authorization
By authorizing service, you represent that you own the equipment or are authorized by the owner to request the work. You authorize AME Computers to perform the diagnostic and repair actions reasonably necessary for the approved service, which may include opening equipment, connecting diagnostic tools, removing or replacing components, running software tests, and powering the device on and off.
AME Computers will not intentionally perform unrelated billable work without customer approval.
4. Data and backups
Computers and storage devices can fail without warning. Unless data recovery or backup is specifically part of the approved service, customers should maintain a current backup of important files before service whenever possible.
AME Computers takes reasonable care with customer equipment, but no repair shop can guarantee that existing data will survive a failing drive, corrupted file system, malware infection, liquid damage, electrical failure, operating-system repair, storage replacement, or other hardware/software problem. Data recovery attempts are also not guaranteed to recover every file.
If data is especially important or irreplaceable, tell AME Computers before repair or reset work begins so the risk can be discussed first.
5. Passwords and account access
Some diagnostics require access to the operating system or a user account. Customers should provide only the access needed for the approved testing. AME Computers will use provided credentials for service-related purposes and should not be given unrelated financial, identity, or account-security information.
If you prefer not to provide a login password, ask whether an alternative testing arrangement is practical for the repair.
6. Parts, compatibility, and customer-supplied components
Replacement parts and upgrade components are selected based on compatibility, availability, condition, and the approved repair plan. New, used, refurbished, aftermarket, or original-equipment parts may have different warranties or availability depending on the job; AME Computers should disclose material differences when relevant.
Customer-supplied parts may be installed when AME Computers agrees to do so, but compatibility and quality cannot be guaranteed simply because a customer purchased the part. Additional diagnostic or labor charges may apply if a supplied part is incorrect, defective, or creates additional work.
7. Repair outcomes and unrelated failures
A repair is intended to correct the approved diagnosed problem. Computers may have multiple independent faults, hidden damage, intermittent failures, aging components, or problems that become apparent only after the original failure is corrected.
AME Computers does not promise that repairing one failure will prevent unrelated components from failing later. When additional problems are discovered, we will explain them and obtain approval before additional billable repair work.
8. Labor warranty
Unless a written work order or invoice states otherwise, AME Computers repair labor is represented on this website as carrying a 30-day labor warranty. A labor warranty applies to the workmanship of the approved repair and does not automatically cover unrelated failures, new physical or liquid damage, malware reinfection, misuse, accidental damage, customer modifications, or failures in customer-supplied parts.
Manufacturer, supplier, or part warranties may have separate terms. Contact AME Computers promptly if you believe an original repaired condition has returned during the applicable warranty period.
9. Data recovery
Data recovery is inherently uncertain. Evaluation may indicate that a device can be handled in-house, should be referred for specialized recovery, or is not economically practical to pursue. No percentage of recovery, file completeness, or future reliability of a failing device is guaranteed unless expressly stated in writing for a particular service.
10. Remote support and third-party services
Remote support is appropriate only for problems that can be addressed safely without physical access to the hardware. Customers must authorize a remote session before access is established and may end the session when practical.
The website also links to or embeds third-party services, including RepairDesk for repair-status lookup and Square for appointment scheduling. Those providers operate their own systems and may apply their own terms and privacy policies.
11. Pickup, abandoned equipment, and unpaid balances
Customers should pick up completed or unrepaired equipment within a reasonable time after notification. If equipment remains unclaimed for an extended period, AME Computers may contact the customer using the information on file and may apply any process permitted by applicable Nebraska law and any written intake terms. AME Computers will not treat this website paragraph alone as permission to dispose of property contrary to applicable law.
Approved charges are due according to the invoice or work order. Standard repair policy is no money down, but that does not eliminate payment obligations for work, parts, or other charges the customer approved.
12. Website information
AME Computers works to keep website information accurate, but services, parts availability, hours, pricing, and technical information can change. Website articles and troubleshooting information are general educational material and are not a guarantee that a particular repair method is safe or appropriate for every computer.
Do not rely on website content as a substitute for a hands-on diagnosis when a device has electrical damage, liquid exposure, failing storage, important data at risk, or another condition where further use could make the problem worse.
13. Limitation of responsibility
To the extent permitted by applicable law, AME Computers is not responsible for losses caused by pre-existing device failure, latent defects, failing media, malware, customer-provided instructions or parts, third-party services, or events outside AME Computers' reasonable control. Nothing in these terms is intended to waive rights or responsibilities that cannot legally be waived.
14. Governing law
These general terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nebraska, without creating a waiver of any consumer rights that apply under law.
15. Changes and questions
AME Computers may update these terms as services or business practices change. The current version will be posted on this page with the revision date.
Questions about a specific repair should be resolved through the applicable intake ticket, estimate, work order, or invoice whenever possible.
