Are you frustrated with the continual errors that you receive as you try to setup a new account in your
Perhaps you feel that you could really get into liking this new operating system if only you could understand it a bit better. Most people do not want to use the outlook program that is included with the vista install and are generally unaware that windows mail is in fact an updated version of outlook express.
If this is what has been bothering you perhaps I can provide you with a bit of insight on eliminating this problem. As an example we will cover setting up a gmail account which should take you less then 6 minutes to set up. First a quick word of caution. When working with windows mail you must be extremely careful to ensure that you do not add any extra spaces, dots are any extra letters or it will not work as expected.
Prior to getting up your account on windows mail you must make sure that you have made any adjustments necessary to your actual gmail account. This must be accomplished prior to doing any work what so ever to the windows mail program.
Sign in to your gmail account and go to the settings section for forwarding and pop/imap determination. When setting up your email make sure not to make errors relating to the pop server. One person discovered the hard way as they tried over and over to get the gmail to work only to find out that they had the following information in the blocks.
pop.google.com
smtp.google.com
In reality it should have been
pop.gmail.com
smtp.gmail.com
Once you have your email address you are ready to setup your account to send and receive email messages on it. When you first boot up Windows Mail you will need to set up an account in it. Before you can add an account you will need some information relating to your ISP such as your email address, the password for your account, the names of both your incoming as well as your outgoing email servers.
Once you have all this information you are ready to begin. Run the Windows Mail program by clicking the Start button and selecting All Programs. Now choose the Windows Mail from the list.
Once loaded go to the Tools drop down menu and click on Accounts. Next click the add button, select E‑mail Account and click Next.
During your setup you will be asked to provide a display name. This is the what recipients will see as they get your email message. Most of the remaining steps are rather self explanatory and similar to those found with outlook express.
